11:09 am - Testing, testing...

Is this thing on? :)

So what have people made for holiday gifts? I've dyed a bunch of yarn for friends, and I'm still working on a scarf for my boyfriend. Pictures will appear eventually.

Knit in Public Day is coming up in a few weeks. Maybe some of us can get projects done to show off?

What have people been working on lately? I'm still mid baby sweater, though I crocheted a bunch of flowers for Faire favors. (And then failed to get pictures of them before giving them away...)

9:41 am - more Star Wars crochet..

They're cute enough to make me want to learn, but that would take time away from knitting:

Yes, I already have a project completed. And it was conceived in a Kasschat, no less!

Problem: I'm ultra-paranoid about leaving my piccolo in the car, but the case doesn't have a handle and is just the right size to be a pain in the ass to carry around.

Solution: Read more...Collapse )

4:32 pm - Yarn for HP Scarves

Some of us folks are a bit fascinated by Harry Potter, and by "a bit fascinated" I mean that we madly fangirl the books and movies. And every Harry Potter fangirl needs a scarf or four of her own. The trick is finding the right yarn. After all, red, black and green all but leap off the shelves into our hands, but what about gold or silver? Or worse, what if you want bronze?

So, how about some tips from the people who have made Harry Potter scarves. What brands and colors of yarn did you use? What kind of results did you get with them?

2:22 am - Favorite Internet Yarn Sites

Have you shopped online for yarn? Were there any places with especially good service or awesome fibers? Drop a comment with a link and why the site was so great. Did they have specialty yarns? Really good free patterns? Good prices? Also, drop a comment if you think I should do a post for for sharing bad shopping experiences.

Thar be links behind this cutCollapse )

10:12 pm - Welcome!

Welcome to Project: Doom. We don't require that all your projects focus on bring about doom, but it's an added bonus. I've got a nice little list of posts I'd like to make that will serve as references for the community, but I don't want to spam up your friends pages, so I'll spread them out over the next few days. I suppose we need some rules so here we go. Rules are, as always, subject to modification as needed.

Pretty much any post about crafting or crafts will be considered on topic for the community. Links to patterns and instructions are especially loved, as are pictures of UFOs and FOs.

Any type of crafting is welcome. Kick me if I need to add anything to the interests list.

Please post large or multiple pictures behind an lj cut.

You don't have to be a kasschatter to join, but please be aware that there will be in jokes. This community sprang from a desire to keep our non-crafty friends relatively sane.

7:01 pm - Opening Shot

Since someone probably should break the ice with an inaugeral post....

Welcome to the Kasschat Crafting Community. I am not entirely sure how I got a crafting community involving me in any way, shape, or form, as I do not craft, but it seems to have happened somehow. Given the previous statement, it should come as no surprise that rosaleendhu will be doing the real modding around here. Rules and guidelines may or may not be forthcoming, but for now, go with the idea that you shouldn't do anything that you think would make me angry.

Oh, and 'the wrong it burns' needs to be an interest for a lot more people. Pass it on.
